What were the top celebrity comebacks of 2008?

Looking back on the very last days of 2008, it's no wonder there were so many celebrities groveling for that "Best Comeback" title. Who wouldn't want to be recognized for picking themselves back up and letting the past be forgotten. Some pasts, however, will stay with us for years to come. Ladies and Gentlemen, the nominees for 2008's Best Comebacks are...

1. Britney Spears. She is back alright, but better than ever? Some critics say that's up for hot debate. What with last year's antics, what else could she possibly have in store for us? Thanks Brit, but the head shaving, umbrella hurling, and peek a boo no panty days are hopefully long gone. Her new album, "Circus", the hot bod finally back postpartum, the overwhelming haul in of Moon Men at the VMA's and her MTV documentary describing the horrible loneliness and imprisonment, the "Oh, Whoa is Me!" picture so delightfully drawn for her adoring fans prove otherwise. Could the pop princess's custody battle, overbearing family and heinous ex-husband"s unsuccessful attempts at stardom be overlooked? 2009 only holds the answers.

2. Robert Downey Jr. Since kicking those nasty drug monkeys to the curb, RDJ's outlook was never brighter. His incredible $580 million pull in at the Box Office for "Iron Man" was only the icing on the cake. Not only was he given an Oscar nom for his brilliantly witty and hilarious performance in "Tropic Thunder", but he also has an enticing and highly anticipated lead in the upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" film. Well Done, Mr. Downey. Keep it coming.

3. "Sex and the City". No celebrity comeback list would be complete without a good TV series comeback. Millions of women awaited with bated breath to see what Mr. Big had in store for Carrie next. Another betrayal? Perhaps a romantic apology? Even better, it's a feature length film! Not only did Sarah Jessica Parker and her sassy pack of 40 plus dames rake in over $400 million at the box office, it was done with an R rating and promising a juicy and hopefully wild as ever sequel in 2010. What could the future possibly hold for the blissfully happy Mrs. Big? Can't wait for it, girls!

4. PiNK. Last, but not in the very least, she proves that even rock stars can have their hearts broken. Her uber personal and sultry album blasted the charts, with "So What" teetering at the very top. After announcing the end of her 2 year marriage to motocross champ and tattoo artist, Corey Hart, PiNK got to work with a liberating and rambunctious music video, a fantastic new album, appropriately named "Funhouse", and a brand new style. Whew! Thanks, PiNK! It was getting a little stuffy in here!
