There are many ways to add simple exercises to your daily routine. This article explains some of the ways you can slowly begin to become more active.
Walking. Going for a walk is a simple activity most people can incorporate into their lives. A person can get up early and talk a morning walk and get some fresh air. This can be a great way to meet new people. You can take your dog with you or go with a friend. Go visit a park or just walk around your neighborhood. Start off slow with 15-30 minutes of activity and gradually increase your time. Before you know it you will be walking further and feeling better. You could then increase your walking by going on hikes.
Get up and stretch. Sitting for long periods can tire you out and leave you stiff and sore. If you sit all day get up every hour for a few minutes and do some simple stretches, or walk around the office. Take the stairs if you are on a lower level and the stairway is accessible to you.. Walk down and back up and continue working.
Take up a new hobby. Becoming active can be as simple as doing something you like to do. You could play an instrument, work in a garden or put together home made items. Go to the park and throw a ball around with a child, fly a kite, or play some basketball.
Plan group activities. You could try some activities such as a group softball game with co-workers or friends. You are getting some exercise and being social at the same time.
Park further away from your destination. If you drive to work you can park further away from the doorway and walk. This can be done at the mall as well, even a few extra steps can help you get active and healthier. Use stairs instead of the escalator in malls if they are provided. Walk around the mall a few times, visit new shops before going home.
Dance. Joining a dance class is a great way to get moving. You can do this in home by yourself or with family. Get the kids involved and make a party out of it. Purchase a tape of children's songs and get them moving to the music, offer prizes to the best dancer. You could even make it a neighborhood activity.
These are some simple ideas to get more exercise into your daily life. Exercise doesn't have to be about running marathons and lifting weights for three hours. Once your body adjusts to more movement and you get stronger those activities can be introduced to your routine. The whole point about simple exercise is to start slowly and work up to a higher fitness level. Be sure to see your doctor if you have any serious medical conditions or breathing problems before getting more active.
