Where to convert currency online

As a British writer, on this excellent web site called Helium, I find that I need to use cash converters more frequently these days. This is because my Helium earnings are shown in American dollars and, with all the global economic struggles today, a currency's worth can change quickly and dramatically. For those who work or trade abroad it is vital that this conversion is accurate. The web is a powerful tool which can offer assistance in most things and currency converting is one of them. However there are many sites available so just how do you decide which is the best one, and the right one, for you?

Any currency conversion online site needs to be:-

Updated on a regular basis.

Accurate.

Regulated.

Trust worthy.

Honest.

Comprehensive.

Qu ick and easy to use.

Easily accessible, perhaps worldwide.

Above all free.

Google or a similar search engine.

If you simply type in currency converter to a search engine you will find a myriad of sites that are available to use for free. However, on closer inspection you may find that these are not all that they are cracked up to be. Still a search such as Goggle is a good place to start. In fact you can add a currency conversion facility to your IGoogle page. Personally I am not sure that I want this and so I have a few tried and tested conversion sites saved in my favourites list.

Fxtop is one of the best web sites for currency conversion. This site has the choice of quite a few languages and different currencies, and offers up to date ,as well as historical, information regarding currency values. There is a help guide but for me this converter is a little too complex for my needs. However, I think it would be perfect for more unusual currencies, multiple conversions and larger amounts of money.

On the other hand Oanda has a more user friendly interface but only offers a choice of seven different languages. It offers up to 164 currencies, is really easy to use but it is a little slow. Still the information is accurate and there is additional information on offer, such as the previous day's values.

Yahoo offer a very basic currency converter that is idiot proof, and so perfect for me. It has clear and simple instructions and is in a large font, which is useful for those who do not have good eyesight. There is a help guide and you can view more information via links from this site, if required. However I think that this site is invaluable as a plain, straightforward currency conversion site.

Xe to be the world's most popular Internet currency conversion site. It certainly is easy to use and does offer powerful tools for calculating items, such as travel expenses, having other functions on offer, such as Forex news and Currency charts.

There are a few easy to use currency converters on-line also that you can download for regular use. Check out this Free Download site, for example. Make sure though that you have good Spam and Virus protection before doing so, just in case.

Finally I do not think you can go far wrong with Reuters conversion facilities. As a renowned name across the world their rates should be accurate and reliable, which after all is what we all need from such a site.

If you want to take a look at a review of these sites and more try the Currency converter site which offers information regarding the best sites available on the web.
