Trees And Shrubs in the Garden.
There are many differant styles of gardens, but for gardens that go on for ever you cant beat the ornamental tress and shrubs. There is a place for trees and shrubs in every garden from the very small plots, to the stately home gardens, size is no problem there is a tree or a shrub that suits all sizes.
These days there are garden centres everywhere so it makes choosing a tree or shrub easier as you can go and see them growing, and in some cases in flower, they are all displayed for easy choosing, and ready for planting.Trees and shrubs are also much less trouble than annuals as once they are fully established there is very little work to do,especially in summer when with your ordinary plants you would be running in and out with the watering can in dry times.Trees and shrubs are labour saving but they dont come exactly trouble free you do need to know something about them before lifting up your spade to plant.
Your selection is important as thier different soil needs do need to be adheared to, some like chalky soil and thrive in it,but others put in chalky soil would start to fade and possibly die so do your homework before choosing your trees or shrubs.
For a more mature looking garden choosing trees and shrubs is the best way to go, your garden not only looks mature , but they can produce the most beautiful flowers and fill your garden with a lovely fragrance. They also provide some gardens with much needed privacy, which is a blessing in some gardens from unsightly views.Specimens grown in containers dont come cheap, so once planted should remain in that spot as some varieties of shrubs dont like being moved and could die.
You should also decide what type of tree or shrub you want to plant bying evergreen or deciduous. Evergreen keep their leaves and so you have colour when other plants are brown and bare. The deciduous loose their leaves but having said that they have some of the most beautiful flowering types, also you have the joy of watching in amazement as the bare branches burst into life with the leaves in spring to the floral display to follow. It is advisable to have equal numbers of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs in the garden.
Most trees are too large for some gardens, so shrubs are a better option as some shrubs grow similar to small trees, some growing to fifteen or twenty foot. Sometimes coloured foliage is important too, as it looks just as dramatic as a fine floral display. Blooms might only last a few weeks but the different coloured leaves on some shrubs last all year round. Some leaf colour can light up your garden so try to get different shrubs in your border together, the result will be rewarding and leave you with an interesting and different garden to enjoy.
