Created on: January 23, 2009

Jaime Moreno is a Bolivian football striker that currently plays for D.C. United in the MLS. Moreno has played for a total of five different professional clubs, but D.C. United is the team with which he has spent most of his club career.

Starting out in the Tahuichi Academy; a Bolivian soccer school famous for developing players that go on to feature in the Bolivian national team, Moreno's first club was Blooming, and he played for Blooming between 1991 and 1993. In 1993 he moved on to play for Independiente Santa Fe, but after just one year in Colombia he moved on to play for Middlesbrough in England.

Moreno made history in becoming the first Bolivian to play in the English Premier League, and although his two years in England were not hugely successful; it was when he moved into Major League Soccer with D.C. United in 1996 that he really began to make a name for himself.

Having scored 122 goals so far in Major League Soccer, Jaime Moreno currently holds the record for most goals ever scored in the league. He's won the MLS Cup four times with D.C. United, and after the 2005 season was named in the MLS All-Time Best XI. Moreno is a hugely popular player in Major League Soccer, and due to his fantastic goal scoring ability is loved by all at D.C. United. He's the most successful striker ever to have played for the club, and although he did briefly leave D.C. United for the 2003 season to play for MetroStars (now the New York Red Bulls) due to a falling out with head coach Ray Hudson; he soon returned to D.C. United, and was back in the team the following season and has once more been a consistent performer since 2004.

Moreno made 74 appearances for the Bolivian national team before retiring from international football in October 2008, and during his time as an international scored 11 goals. Moreno was a regular fixture in the Bolivian team throughout the 90s, but during the early 2000s was not selected to play for his country for six years, before finally being recalled for the national team to play in a friendly against Ireland in 2007. After featuring in the friendly, Moreno then went on to appear in the Copa America with Bolivia, where Bolivia was sadly unable to make it through the group stage.

Two goals with MetroStars, and one hundred and twenty with D.C. United; Jaime Moreno is a prolific goalscorer in Major League Soccer, and has well and truly won over the fans during his fantastic time with D.C. United. Ten years Moreno has now spent with the club in total, and he's certainly been a very exciting player since arriving in Washington in 1996.

Jaime Moreno is, without doubt, one of the greatest strikers ever to have played in Major League Soccer.
