It has been said that to truly understand another person, you must place yourself in their shoes. Unfortunately, in many cases, most men's feet seem to be too big for a woman's shoe. Speaking scientifically, of course, the answer is simply the different amounts of estrogen and testosterone found in the two sexes. Testosterone cause masculinity, muscle mass, aggressive behavior, and body hair; and estrogen causes femininity, nurturing, and mood swings. Due to society, men and women have also been given problems to deal with such as self image and vanity, but many of these issues can also be accounted for scientifically. Attacking this question from a religious perspective, I hope to give an answer that perhaps has not yet been given. Anyone that has studied the Bible knows the Creation story. God created the heavens and the earth, and then on a slow day, he created man. So, it can be said that from God came man. After realizing that man would be lonely by himself, God put man to sleep and from man, he created woman. In fact, it can be said that from man came woman. Why is this significant? When God first created man, there was no such thing as gender. Adam was made as a complete man, in the image of God, with both male and female characteristics. However, when God created woman, he took a rib from man, and in so doing, he separated man into two distinct beings. One being was male, and the other female, and genders were born. In doing this, God actually separated masculine and feminine characteristics from the once whole man, and he placed each set in a "clay pot". Man is masculine, woman is feminine, and when they are placed together, in the union of marriage, they once again form a complete person. A good picture is that when we marry the opposite sex, we stand back to back, guarding each others weaknesses. This is why it is impossible for a man to completely understand a woman. Although we are both humans, the characteristics placed in each are different. Also, God created woman with a thiner "clay pot" than man, and thus, females are more nurturing, caring, and gentle in most cases. On the other hand, man is created to battle the world for his mate. Another glaring difference is the ability to bear children and all that comes along with that ability. These reasons, in a nutshell, explain why man cannot understand woman, as stated earlier, his feet are too big.
