When you have broken a goal do not ask "why did I fail" instead ask "Have I really failed". Breaking a goal is not a reason to stop trying. Goals fail when you admit failure. Whatever your goal was, if you perform the act you are wishing to stop, don't take it as a reason to stop trying. Instead reflect upon reasons that may have brought you to do it and then find ways to decrease the chances of it happening again.
Goals that fail were often heading for failure as soon as they were started. Goals are easier to set then they are to keep. Here are some tools you can use to make sure you will be successful in whatever goal or dream you are chasing as well as reasons why without these failure is almost guaranteed.
Make goals specific
We will never get what we want, if we do not know what it is that we want. Goals such as "I want to lose weight", "I want to get fit", "I want to save money" are nice but without much more added to them they are meaningless. For any goal you have you should be able to tell others who, what, when, where and why.
The "who" should be pretty easy, but can include others who will help or hinder you from reaching your goal. The "what" should include a specific end goal that has a definite amount. The when should include a date you want to achieve the goal by as well as bench mark dates. The where should include places that will help you reach your goal as well as places that will hinder your goal. The why is perhaps the most important question. Unless you have solid reasons yourself for reaching a goal then your goal will be hard to reach. If your goal is being directed by another person (i.e. family, friends and medical professionals) then you need to find a way to make their reasons you own. Without this, failure is nigh.
Make goals measurable
If you can't measure your goal, when how will you know you have been successful or if you have failed? Without a clearly defined measurement, it's hard to know where you are with your goal. It may seem a great idea to make the goal "as much as possible" but this is another failure aimed goal. As an example, if you are trying to lose weight you need to set an exact number of Lbs or Kgs to lose, without this it is hard to know when to reward ourselves or when to push harder. Things like weight loss not only need to be measured in weight but also time. A good thing to remember with weight loss is "Fast to lose is fast to gain, slow to lose is slow to gain" any method that helps you lose weight fast is usually
