How to deal with rude people

by being a little compassionate or consider their circumstances can allow us to look beyond the behavior. Next time give the benefit of the doubt and remember that everyone, including you, sometimes make mistakes.

Ignore the Rudeness

It may be best just to ignore the rude behavior entirely. Instead of allowing the behavior to impact you in a negative way, simply ignore it and walk away from the situation. There are times when you can do nothing else but this. Walking away may create the best outcome by defusing the situation completely.

Confront the Rude Behavior

There will be times when action is the right and responsible thing to do. Make sure that you confront the person in a gracious but firm manner and inform them as politely as possible that their behavior is rude. Many times this will end the situation. If it does not, you may want to seek additional steps to take action. For example, if a sales clerk is rude to you, you will want to contact the manager or home office of the store.

It is vital to remember that no one else is responsible for our actions or our reactions to ruse behavior except us. You make the choice how you will respond and take responsibility for your actions. There can be no real change until people begin to realize
