In the absence of physical evidence, how can we be sure that God exists ? It's a fair enough question, and one that I shall attempt to explain from my own point of view.
I can imagine that if we just evolved that the feelings of pain, or heat or cold, are easily explained by the nervous system of a human being physically put to the test, and biologically the probability is that these are part and parcel of being alive. Though what about the unexplained phenomena such as love or those sentiments such as missing someone, grief, longing, and the sentiments that make the difference between a human and an animal.
In my life, I have had periods where most would give up hope, where most would question not only the existance of God, though question why he was neglecting to guard over me in times of crisis. Instead, I feel an overwhelming presence. I feel that there is someone there guiding me through all the bad things that happen, and it isn't just wishful thinking.
At one stage, I had an out of body experience, that took me above my hospital bed, and proved to me the existance of soul. If soul exists as a separate entity to the body, then is it not logical that there would be some maker or creator who was responsible for the souls of those departed.
Without God, my life would make no sense, have no reason. I cannot imagine a day in my life without him, and I really don't need to shout from the highest place about God as many of my counterparts seem to, because God is totally unquestioned to me, and no amount of preaching can teach a human being that. They have to find out for themselves, and let belief become part of who they are. It isn't enough to say all the right words, to shout it from the highest rooftop, to talk about Jesus, or quote from the Bible. In fact if people read the Bible properly, the biggest statement within its covers is that human beings don't have the right to quote the Bible in any circumstances, but should use it as a menu for life, neither adding to it nor taking away from it.
God is part of my life. Now proove to me that he isn't. That would be a harder job than to proove that he is.
