There are many reasons why a girl may need to "call it a night." If any one of the following is true, it's definitely time to call it a night.

Your date looks like your father and acts like your obnoxious uncle. He is more interested in teasing the waitress than in getting to know you.Your date takes you to a coffee shop-despite the fact that he doesn't drink coffee.He spends more time talking to the hostess than he does talking to you.The date is going so badly you feel like you're dining out alone.You go to a movie and he proceeds to spill popcorn all over you.and doesn't even offer to clean it up.He's three hours late meeting you for dinner because he was hanging out with his buddies.He shows up at your door dressed like your 85 year-old grandfather.When you bring him back to your place, you're too drunk to unlock your own front door. He tells you his last 3 girlfriends all have restraining orders against him.He's prettier than you are (unless you like that sort of thing.)He shows up for the date wearing his sister's leather pants.

But the reasons above are not the only reasons a girl may feel the need to call it a night. It's never a good idea for a first date to drag on too long, so if you've been hanging out with a guy for the first time for more than a few hours (think 3-4) it's time to call it a night. This leaves him wanting more and lets him know you have a full, active life. That's an important quality when you begin dating someone.

On the other hand, if the date has been luke-warm at best, it's better to call it a night than to drag out something you know won't lead to anything in the future. It saves you and your date a lot of awkwardness later on. And it could end up leading to a great friendship you wouldn't have otherwise had.

Certainly if at any point in the date, he makes you feel uncomfortable for whatever reason (lewd comments, inappropriate touching, etc), it's best to bail out before anything bad happens. If you're getting a bad vibe from the guy, do anything and everything to get yourself away from him and to a safe place. It is essential not to let a guy like this drive you home, even if it means taking a cab or a bus to get there. You'll be safe and he won't be able to come after you.

Overall, there are a various number of reasons why a girl may need to call it a night. But whether the date was a blast or a bomb, being the one to call it a night puts you in control of the situationand guys love women who aren't afraid to take control.
