Great ideas for weekend vacations
If you live in the Southeast part of United States, you might want to weekend vacation that is within driving distance. Here are some suggestions for you when you begin to make your weekend vacation plans
If you are looking to discover history and visit an aquarium try Charleston, SC. The Charleston low country has a lot to offer in the way of historical sites. After visiting the various historical locations, you can go to the Charleston aquarium and see a variety of aquatic species. One of the most interesting exhibits is aquatic species native to the low country. After a day of sightseeing, visit one of the local restaurants for some fresh seafood. The Wreck of Richard and Charlene on Mt Pleasant island can be difficult to find, but is well worth the considerable effort.
If you are looking to do some serious shopping try Atlanta, GA. The Mall of Georgia, the largest mall in the southeast, is located in the outskirts of Atlanta. There are also several other malls in close proximity to Atlanta. Also, Atlanta downtown offers shopping for every price range.
If you are older and want to relax try Hilton Head Island, SC. Hilton Head Island is laid back and caters to the older crowd. There is not a lot for young people to do, unless they want to sit around and listen to the relaxing sound of the ocean waves. Many of the resorts have golf courses and tennis courts. There is also a Tanger outlet with plenty of stores for a day of shopping.
If you want to go to the mountains try Asheville, NC. Asheville has a plenty to do with great downtown area, Biltmore estate, and many other attractions. It would be best to this weekend trip in the early fall if you want to see the changing of the leaves. It would be best to make this weekend trip in the late fall if you want to see the Christmas at Biltmore estate.
If you would like to relax in cabin on the side of a mountain try Gatlinburg, TN. Gatlinburg has cabins for rent, many offering beautiful mountain views. Most of the cabins have Jacuzzis and decks. There are hiking trails for those who like to explore the outdoors. It is a plus that Pigeon Forge is not far away and offers lots of shopping options.
