Obviously the pick for a 2009 comeback would be Brittney Spears. I mean come on... doesn't she have a comeback every year? But seriously I don't think we should count 2008 as the comeback year and wait for her to actually do something that can showcase her talent (if there is any left). I think there are a few more celebrities that we need to hope have a comeback. First off, we can hope Harrison Ford makes a comeback from the dreadful Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (http://www.njtechie.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/ 18864940.jpg). Yeah, it was so bad that instead of being a comeback movie it made one a necessity for Harrison Ford. Even a great movie like Air Force One can't compensate for the hilarity that is Indiana Jones. Second celebrity needing a comeback, Amy Winehouse. Only someone with her talent can fall so hard so fast, yet still maintain a schedule of shows and performances. I think we are all waiting for Amy to either blossom into an incredible talent or fall out of the public eye and into rehab for a long time.
Next up to bat would be Alicia Sacromone (http://haleywood.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/alicia .jpg). Though she did better on a balance beam then I will ever be able to imagine doing...she cost the US a shot at the gold medal. I hope this year is better for her. Though we wont ever hear her name or the other hundreds that we heard at the Olympics for another four years I hope they have a great year and prepare to entertain us again.
Speaking of bats...the New York Yankees definitely are due. How can a team spend nearly $210,000,000 on personnel and not make the playoffs. Only in American sports can something like that happen. On the subject of baseball we might as well throw in the Cubs seeing as they are amazing choke artist. It is as if they want to be Ohio State and every team they play in the post season is Florida. Cubs fans...the likelihood of the Cubs winning the World series is equal to America having a black president or another Clinton in the White House...oh wait maybe there is a chance.
Segway to politics. The GOP needs to make some sort of comeback. They got destroyed in every major category and any party that has John Mccain as your front man is in big trouble. Luckily they have the beautiful and amazingly intelligent (eh?) Sarah Palin to jump start their comeback. Seriously though...I think she can pull it off.
To end this beautiful summation of all the hopes we have for certain celebrities I will list some honorary mentions in the category of comebacks needed: Alex Rodriguez (Madonna?), Sanford and Sons, Brittney Spears, Bill Cosby, Tom Hanks, Jude Law, Donald Trump, Brittney Spears, Donald Duck, Rosie O'donnell, David Beckham, Brittney Spears, Bobby Flay, Retirement accounts, Darfur, George HW Bush, did I mention Brittney Spears?
