Poetry: With one look

by Matthew Waters

Created on: January 22, 2009

With Just One Look:

Inside a crowded room,

Or across a busy street,

In passing on the sidewalk,

Or anywhere we meet,

Your eyes can stop my heartbeat,

And make me want to hide,

Or make my heart beat faster,

And make me feel alive.

Your power is unchecked,

The pain and joy you hold,

Nothing holds it back,

It shocks me to the soul.

With just a single glance,

My world's in your control,

With just a single look,

You destroy or make me whole.
