There is an old saying that has proved to be true many times in the past. "There's never been a horse that couldn't be rode and there's never been a man that couldn't be throwed." This is a statement of the arrogance of some who are at their peak and ahead of the odds many times but, there is always a chance that the serendipitous incident where the mighty succumb to the meeker or less prepared opponent happens. This happens in war, national longevity, sports contests, politics and many other endeavors.

The same fate could happen with the longevity of the US existing as a country and there are no guarantees of invincibility for any nation in the world. Even the fact that the sun will rise tomorrow is a gamble. Nature itself is unpredictable when the elasticity of time is applied to it to try to produce a never-ending existence. Hence, the many predictions of the end of the world and even the end of universe by the soothsayers of the world find print.

The US is entering a time when war is rapidly changing the odds that we will always win. Our citizenry is docile when it comes to protecting our freedoms and the price of leaving our blackberries and malls is too much to take the time necessary to give the greatest odds of surviving as a winner every time. The new terrorist methods look upon our country as a fatted cow with many targets of opportunity with extremely large results of death of our citizens. As an example take the city of San Francisco, which refuses to even let others develop a military advantage for the US, and let terrorists set off one nuclear bomb at Fisherman's Wharf. This is entirely possible. This, if repeated at fifteen more cities in the US, could easily and abruptly end the US as a nation.

Politically our country may fall into the hands of idealists whose ideas will not support a long and successful life for the US. Our economy could collapse under certain conditions causing failure of the country in the existing and competitive world. A civil war could be promulgated and that could end the existence of the US.

Another end all nations have to consider is the incidence of that tiny initial new danger, the contagion of a plague which has the ability to rapidly spread across the countries of the world with devastating death rates. This could develop into a nation ending catastrophe very rapidly in some cases.

Less likely is the possibility that the fate of the dinosaurs could be repeated by a meteor strike in or near the US. However, it must be considered possible. In fact there are too many incidents to list for the purpose of this article.

Currently the most dangerous threats to end the US as a nation are probably political upheaval or misapplication for new changes or ultimate damage to the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Another is the threat of a terrorist causing a nuclear or biological world war.

It is obvious that the question posed by the title of this article has to be answered with a resounding no when reason and logic are applied to the question. There is a possibility that the US may not exist in 100 years or even in a day as a nation.
