saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house." (Matthew 9:4-6) After His resurrection, He said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." (Matthew 28:18)
Jesus wasn't seeking to make a name for Himself. The Bible records His warnings to those who were healed not to tell anyone. Jesus told the healed leper, "See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them." (Matthew 8:4)
Jesus was called "Son" by God Himself. Matthew records the incident: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:16-17)
Why would God send His Son? Is it possible that God wanted to establish a connection with man? Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

God alone can tell us what is required to connect with Him. Jesus removed the obstacles of reconciliation, making atonement for sin by becoming the ransom that God requires. The consequence of breaking God's laws was death. Jesus died, paying the price for sin, yet He was innocent of any sin.
Jesus tells us that He has taken the required punishment for our sin on Himself. Jesus said, "Even so the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28) Also: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." (Matthew 18:11)
It is recorded that Jesus was crucified, betrayed by one of His own, who himself claimed that Jesus was innocent. Matthew records the account of Judas: "Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood." (Matthew 27:3-4a)
If we have become estranged from God, then we have become lost. Jesus came to restore us to God. When a law is broken, there must be a punishment. When that punishment
