I almost blame those all around me
More than I blame him
The ones who could perhaps have found me
Just could not begin
To analyse what they saw rising,
Flowing from my soul
The bruises there were not surprising,
Merely took their toll.
As I lay writhing, broken, shattered,
Screaming silent prayers
The childish dreams that once had mattered
Trotted back downstairs
To lie with all those words unspoken
Games still left unplayed
A child once whole who now is broken,
All her edges frayed.
I wish somebody just had listened,
Watched me as I fell
Realised the tears that always glistened
Were reflections of hell.

How I wish that I was wrong,
Because my hope
