Guide to New Jersey mountain honeymoon destinations

In my last New Jersey honeymoons destinations article, beach honeymoons was the topic of choice. In this article, you'll see that you don't have to lay out the big bucks to travel to Aspen or the Alps to have a great mountain honeymoon. New Jersey has everything that Colorado and Switzerland has to offer, and more!

Mountain Creek- This is New Jersey's premiere ski resort and features 46 ski trails, 45 of them lighted for night skiing, 7 tubing lanes, and a Superpipe. Snuggled in N.J.'s Appalachian Mountains, it has two types of accommodations, a lodge and condo rentals. The condo rentals, Black Creek Sanctuary, is a 2 minute drive to the trails. The ski lodge, The Appalachian, has one of a kind ski in/ski out lodging and is right at the base of the mountain. It also features a fully equipped gym, spa, pool and hot tub.

Crystal Springs- This resort is not only a great place for a honeymoon, it boasts that it is New Jersey's most luxurious wedding resort and the most romantic of northern N.J.'s wedding locations. So, if you are looking for a full wedding and honeymoon package, this is the place for you. Crystal Springs features activities such as skiing, hiking, mountain biking, basketball, tennis, racquetball, and fishing. It also has seven championship golf courses, seven indoor and outdoor pools, a day spa, and a unique feature called the Biosphere. The Biosphere is an indoor pool area with retractable roof and lush tropical foliage. The roof also allows nearly 100% light transmissions, allowing for year round indoor tanning.

What honeymoon doesn't have wine? New Jersey's wine country has fourteen vineyards and breweries you can visit for tours and free or low cost wine tasting. Why not stay at a romantic, mountainside bed and breakfast, then tour the wineries? February is a great time for this type of honeymoon, but it's not the only time to indulge. A possible vineyard honeymoon could include a stay at Alpine Haus Bed & Breakfast in Vernon, then visits at Cava Winery & Vineyard in Hamburg, Ventimiglia Vineyard in Wantage, or Westfall Winery in Montague. All three of these vineyards are in close proximity to the Alpine Haus.

New Jersey may be known more for its beaches than its mountains, but New Jersey's mountain areas can certainly hold their own. For a mountain retreat honeymoon that is thousands of dollars less than one in Aspen or the Alps, New Jersey is your best bet. Look for my next New Jersey honeymoons article, that will feature places to go just for fun.
