Having a sports theme is one option for your wedding. Many people choose to have themed weddings in which one main theme is played throughout both the ceremony and reception. If you and your future spouse are crazy about a certain sport, then maybe a sports themed wedding is for you. There are several ways that you can incorporate a sports theme into our wedding and still keep it classy and not juvenile. Here are some ideas for a sports themed wedding to get you started.

The first place to start with the sports theme for your wedding is with the invitations and the other stationary for the wedding. It's not necessary to have your actual sport on the wedding invitation as you can casually hint at it instead. If your favorite sport is baseball, then you could have your invitations designed with red stitching like a baseball around the edge. If you choose, you can just keep the wedding invitations simple or you can play up your sports themed wedding. Remember to keep it tasteful and that you are not throwing an eight year old's birthday party. A small baseball or basketball in the corner of the invitation could be just the right touch.

Wedding centerpieces are a great way to continue your sports theme for your wedding. Check for vases that are in the shape of your favorite sport such as a baseball or golf ball shaped vase. Fill the vase with flowers of your choice. Another choice for a sports themed wedding for the centerpieces is to take an actual sporting equipment and fill them with flower petals or candles. A baseball glove could be filled with rose petals and be the main attraction for the centerpieces. Wedding centerpieces is the place to get creative with your sports themed wedding.

Who doesn't like look at the beautiful wedding cake? Well, the sports themed wedding cake should be no different. Depending on how far you want to carry your sports theme, the wedding cake could be all sports or be a combination of sports and fancy. Check out wedding cake toppers that are two people playing sports or even just a figurine of your favorite sport. If you want to, you can also add some designs to the wedding cake such as a baseball diamond or the pattern of a soccer ball.

Food for a sports themed wedding can easily be fit into the theme. This would be easy if you are having a baseball wedding. You could easily get away with serving hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, and other finger foods found at baseball games. If you want to keep the food traditional you can also choose to do that but add only one dish that relates to your sports theme.

The biggest part of the wedding that should have the sports theme should be the favors. Ideas for favors could include cookies in the shape of your favorite sport ball or sports equipment. Chocolate in the shape of baseballs or golf balls wrapped up could also be great favors. Check out places online that sell wedding favors for any that your sports theme for your wedding.

Adding little accents here and there to your sports themed wedding can really add to it:

For the flowers and bouquets you can add sports charms or miniature figurines to them.
Give the bridesmaids and groomsmen sports pins to wear on their clothing. A bride can make her garter with material that has sports on it or add a sports charm to it.
Have your groomsmen have numbers on their back as if they were playing a game.
Incorporate sports lingo into your wedding vows.
Have your wedding at an actual sports venue such as a golf country club or at your city's stadium.
At the reception make sure that "sports music" is played, such as the songs you would hear at a sporting event.
