Poetry: I'm sorry

by Sophi De Rossett

Created on: January 21, 2009

this isn't a promise i'm handing you
i've recently learned to not make any of those.
but i hope you'll see the part of me
that's going to get better and grow.

i'm not running away from anything
i'm steering clear of a soon-to-be mess
but i'll confess, i've heaped you on that pile.
i'm sorry; this hurt will take awhile.

but life's not over and you can see that now.
the light's glowing in the tunnel, open your eyes.
there's a big, bright future with open blue skies
and too bad if they get gray, but it'll go away...
just like how you're feeling.

i'm as guilty as can be for the place i put you in
but the hate that's accompanying this,
that's not my mess.
and it's not my sin.

it's reflection of how you feel for me;
not a matter of what i've done.
sit
and think
and see
that now this was probably not meant to be.

i'm not a child; i have dreams
you do, too,
they're just very different for you.
