The way I look at this is that celebrities have become what they are because people idolize them. We as fans have given them this high and mighty status and we are the ones that make them do these things because some of us get out of control over them. Celebrities are just people who happen to get paid tons of money for doing what they do. And most of them are gorgeous. So why make such a fuss of these people? There are plenty of non-celebrities that are great looking and do other jobs like the military, etc. Why not give them an escort? Why not pay the military members millions of dollars? Their jobs involve death, not hair and make up, lights..camera..action. Celebrities can be in a war film and go home at the end of the day or wherever they want. There are other jobs and other people who do things way more important but make minimum wage at best. So do I feel celebrities should have police escorts? No. If they are being threatened by a fan or something, then I can see having police look into it and maybe monitor activities you do and all but other than that, I don't think so. Like I said, we are the ones who have given them such glory and high status and we are the ones that make such a big deal over them. Why don't we just lay off and let them do their thing without bombarding them when we see them? Then they would not need the escorts and high security as if they were the President. I mean, there are people out in the world every day who are being threatened and attacked and all the police do is investigate and keep a look out but they do not follow them all over. Take some self-defense classes, get a permit/license for a weapon and you should be good. That's what everyone else has to do. I tend to think that our society is no longer fair in the way people are treated because of the way the economy is right now and as I said above, there are some who make more money than anyone else who may have a more difficult or dangerous job. To me, the pay scale is not fair at all. But overall, celebrities are just people, not GOD, so treat them as people. I don't think they should get any special treatment or perks such as getting into clubs before anyone else in line, or getting out of jail time for something they have done. I hate it when they make an example out of one celebrity but you have others who have done far worse and barely do anything. Like that issue with Kiefer Sutherland doing some jail time when Paris Hilton does that stuff all the time and what does she get? Oh, only a short amount of time and claims that she is so changed and that her experience has totally changed her. I don't think so, she's still the same Paris. So no special treatment or entitlements.
