Its called Bum Marketing and it works. If you are new to trying to earn money through affiliate or internet marketing and you have no cash to spend then article or Bum marketing is the way to go. Using this technique you can actually make a living online without ever spending a cent. However there are some drawbacks which are not all that bad but I feel they need to be told.

If you want to earn through article marketing be prepared to write and to write lots. A couple articles just are not going to do it. You need to be looking at hundreds and eventually thousands of articles to get your site and brand known to the world.

You also need to learn how search engines work. There is no sense writing the articles if you dont understand keywords and how they work. Your goal is to get on page one of the search engines using your keyword selection. There are many great tools to help you select keywords. A little practice and you will be using these tools like a pro.

Now, I mentioned 100s of articles. Well another thing is dont bother writing garbage articles or promotional articles. The key to article marketing is providing people with good, key, quality content. When people read your article you need to make them feel like you are an expert in the field you are writing about. As for the promotional articles, well I beg you that no matter how tempted you are do not promote in your article. People will lose respect very quickly and stop following and reading your articles.

So how many articles do you really need to get things rolling? Well there really is no set number however be prepared to write a lot. I suggest trying to write 30 to 50 articles a week. Just think in 10 weeks you would have 3 to 5 hundred articles circulating around the web. However I understand that many people just cant write that many and thats ok. Just write what you can and eventually you will reap the rewards.

Now as you get further into your internet carrer you may want to start putting some of the profits back into your business. What I mean by that is you may want to spend some money on an autoresponder, maybe some website hosting so you can build your own sites as well. Another key thing you may want to spend some money on is outsourcing. What I mean by that is hiring someone to write your articles for you. I presently outsource articles for 2 to 5 dollars an article. This frees up time for me to do so much more that I need to do to keep my business running.
