Lines of fire traced across my skin
Exquisite pain
Your touch
Your fingertips
Your lips
My bare skin on yours
Holding, holding,
Too close, but yet not close enough
For we are still two
Two minds
Two hearts
Two bodies, separate flesh
Two breaths
Our one-ness is yet to come

The look,
The touch,
The kiss,
The names, whispered in the dark . . .

My cold and empty bed cannot hold me now
You fled with the night
With sleep
With dreaming
My mind betrays me nightly
Spinning images of you
And me
My sweetest dream, a nightmare
Oh, that i'd never wake!

Standing in front of me
Holding my hands
And smiling at

My need for air, my want of light.
But
