The political issues are far more significant than the color of the candidate's skin. Race should not be the major reason for a Presidential vote.
Today, we have a new president. Indeed, it was an historical event. No doubt it is a time for celebrating, we have a new President. We cannot deny that this country needs a fresh start. We can certainly hope that some of the crisis in America will begin to level off.
What we need to understand is that having a black President will change nothing. It should change nothing. We have had new Presidents, and celebrated many times in our history, but in most cases we have not been truly satisfied with the performance of any new President as a united nation. No president has ever come into office and changed the nation immediately. The color of the skin will not make any difference.
For those who believe that this President, because he is black, will finally somehow save his people, please be aware that the very fact that he is President means that his people have been saved already. (From whatever it is they needed to be saved from) The fact that he was elected President means that blacks really are not being held back by the nation, it's people, or prejudice. The American dream is still alive for all.

Today there were ceremonies and parties. Tomorrow the country will be in the same condition as it is today. Business as usual will happen in the White House. One new President will have his eyes open to new information he was totally unaware of yesterday. He will wake up in the real world, now he is the President. The weight will be on his shoulders to either fulfill his promises, or up front admit that he cannot.
The past president has his failures, this one will too. Americans will second guess his decisions as they did the former president. He will lose points and gain points from day to day, but his job is to be a stable and consistent leader. There are not any excuses. Just as he faulted the former president for some decisions, he will be faulted for his.
Lets be real, this is America, Her history has not always been wonderful. That will not change. We will have good times and bad. It will always be for the same reasons, greed, hate, selfishness, pride, and a free-for-all immorality.
