First suggestion: Remember the Past
They say that time and history repeats itself. America
has a lot of history that we do not want to see repeated. Looking at our civil wars, great depression, and social and racial segregation, and, the years of pain and struggle that these moments in our nation's history have negatively impacted, and still impact, our country is enough to suggest that our president should take time to pour over the nation's great moments of achievement and breakthrough and discover those characteristics, sacrifices, and actions that enabled our country to consistently rise to the occasion and meet or come through each of those dark times, and in so doing, learn for him/her self.
The president should baptism him/herself in the personal endeavor to learn from those great men and women who brought great change to our country, or stood on the morning after a devastating attack and challenged the whole nation, like; President George Washington, Lincoln, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, Crazy Horse, Franklin D. Roosevelt, General Douglas MacArthur, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Roland Reagan, and even Rudolph Giuliani. The President should look at and give special on going attention to both the horrors and the triumphs of our past history, and make him/herself ready, in the same great patriotic spirit, to prevent what can be prevented, and to stand triumphant and determined, as a mountain of hope when the horrors do come.
Second suggestion: Consider the People
America
is a melting pot of all races, peoples, religions, and social statuses. Every American has needs to be met by our country. Every person needs some kind of help from the country and with the vast expanse and levels of differences that make up our great country, the president must consider and create a vast array of different ways to properly meet the needs of all the people. The president must consider the rich, consider, to middle class, the homeless, the vets from all military struggles. He must consider the Christian, the Muslim, the Hindu, the non-believer, agnostic, and atheist. He must consider the farmers, the teachers, the police, the coffee barista, the deli manager, the librarian, the CEO, the pastor, and the sheet metal worker.
The President must consider all the cultures that make up the nation and discover the ways to reach out and meet the needs, so that we can find our way to bridge all gaps and break down all the barriers of segregation and denominations and celebrate the out stretching patchwork-art of
Americas beautiful diversity.
Third suggestion: Pursue the Future
The President must pursue THE future, not a future. He/she must have the destination in mind, and not just hope or work for a possibility of an unclear vision. He must give the people the definite vision of where we are going, and how exactly we will get there. The people must be on the same page, dreaming the same dream, working towards the same goal, with no surprises. The full vision should be spoken clearly, writing articulately, and made available to every American.
Finally, the President should help us, the people, remember the past, consider each other, and pursue a sure and definite future; working together as Americans, as bothers and sisters helping achieve a dream that was spoken years ago, in constant calibration of our diverse nation.
