The Wanderer

Take our your binders, take out your pencils,

Open you textbooks and let the studying begin

Take these notes, do that assignment,

Do your homework; write that report.

Yeah, right, okay, let's see how this goes

Blah blah blah; time for my iPod

I plug it in and pull out my notebook,

Flipping it open to a fresh new page.

Inspiration flows to my fingers to this lovely smooth page

I tune out the teacher's voice and the dull chatter of my peers,

Growing more and more interested in what I have to say

Sometimes if I listen closely to my heart, I hear something profound

I look up every once in awhile but my mind is miles away,

In a world that I designed, constructed so perfectly of things I understand

The sky is painted with happiness, the clouds lines with innocence

These grasses are tipped with passion.

But when I'm finished and I return to the class;

My boring reality strikes again, and I wander off once more

Another story to be told, another soul ripped open; bleeding

Another reality replaced
