I think a great idea for a good business with little capital investment is something you can give the person.
Patterns is a good example. (Information is another) As for patterns, if you have a PayPal account, with some web hosting you can put PayPal buttons right next to your item, or find a web host that isn't too expensive. Just be sure whatever you spend, you can make back. You don't want to keep doing something that makes you lose money more and more throughout time, so be sure to keep track of what you spend and how much you make. For patterns, what I mean, is to find something, and make a pattern for it. A particular doll, crocheting hats or gloves, etc.
Another way to sell patters. When JoAnn's is having a sale, buy some patterns when they're cheap, and then just sell them for a little more than you paid for them, allowing for profit. I've seen many of these patterns on eBay before, which is a great place to first start your business. My mom first started her business there, built it up a while, then after about a year decided to get her own domain as well, but continues with eBay.
I do suggest profiting from information, patterns, or anything really. Even if you think NO ONE will buy it, try it out online first. There are probably more people than you think looking for what you have to offer.
