How to avoid being ripped off on eBay

Ebay is an online auction site that allows buyers and sellers in a national and even global basis to trade products. The auction site involves listing goods and people paying for the goods using paypal or other payment methods. People can get ripped off on eBay when the buyer agrees to pay for the goods and later avoids communication with the buyer. In the meantime the seller has been charged listing and fixed sale value of the item advertised on sale. eBay can then investigate for non communication with the buyer, though this process is quite a lengthy process.

Also some people advertise goods that are seemingly too good to be true to be considered as a realistic purchase. The goods can appear on the website as brand new goods with a low price. The goods then turn up to be used or copied versions of the original. This is the problem of using eBay as many international traders sell counterfeit or pirated goods and the quality of the product seem to be suspicious or even dangerous. The design looks similar to the original though the goods are different to what has been advertised.

Other rip off methods on eBay can include the delivery charges being unfair or where the goods are delibaretly priced low to encourage people to bid, only for the delivery charge to be extremely high. The area where people can also get caught out is at the time when bidding the seller can get the bids and payment without having any goods of their own to sell and deliver in 7 days. This is against the rules of any transaction on eBay though delays in the post can occur, or where the goods can get damaged or lost in the post. People can in this case take steps such as to inspect the goods in person if the seller is in a local area to the buyer. Also no money should be exchanged if the offer sounds to good to be true. Using paypal services is perhaps a good way of not being ripped off on eBay as the goods can be escrowed or even the sellers paypal account can be reviewed by paypal when ebay customer services are informed through the website system of reporting abuse on the site. The investigation can involve the blocking of the sellers account and refunds being made.

Usually where an offer sounds or is advertised as being too cheap or too great to be true, then usually this is always the case. People buying off e-Bay should check the sellers reputation and feedback along with some steps to find out more information about the sellers business. This can lead to some good steps in being conned out of good money. Buyers should also request confirmation from the seller regarding the postage and delivery details. The costs of the delivery should be stated in advance so that there are no hidden extra costs requested from the seller. This will help avoid a "too good to be true" deal from taking place where the buyer walks away either being conned or in having a item that fails to be delivered.
