I love these articles. As a believer in spiritualism and more open than a sceptic may be, i tend to feel or sense/smell when someone, other than a human living thing is present with me. I would like to tell you about a home i lived in, so you will understand it is from a personal level. I cannot base this on my current house as i only feel we have visitations occasionally.

I used to live in a old Farm House Cottage, in the village i still live in now. It was just an ordinary 3 bedroom, 2 reception roomed home. When i first entered the house with a view to renting, you could sense what i believe is a feeling of being watched. With these old cottages you tend to use the back door to enter. As you walk in the kitchen, directly right is the dining room. This is the room with most feeling. Directly above the dining room was my daughters bedroom.

On a number of occasions when walking through the dining room to the living room i could smell a very musky scent, but this was only ever in one place in the dining room. My daughters door to her bedroom was directly above this particular area too.

At this point i would like to add that my eldest daughter has been seeing spirit since she was very young. One night my daughter had just gone to bed She must have been around 7/8 years old. Within ten minutes she was down stairs asking to go to the toilet. When she came back, she asked where her granddad was. My father was at his home. My daughter then explained that someone just looked round the door to her room and said hello to her, and that this person looked like her granddad.

I asked her to call her granddad as this might make her feel better. Unfortunately it scared her so much she could not stay in the room that night. Also, the very next day i called out loud and asked that no spirit was to show their self to my daughter until she was old enough to cope. She has not seen anyone since.

At one time my husband and i had stayed in the same room, and this was prior to my daughter seeing this person. I too felt i was being watched by someone who was standing by the door.

On another occasion, my niece came to stay overnight. Shortly after,i offered to have her and her brother stay again, but this time my niece refused to stay. My sister found the out the reason as to why, and it turns out that she too felt she was being watched by someone standing at the doorway.

To this day i actually feel that the area down stairs and up was what is known as a portal, an area where spirits can enter the earth plane.

Also, on another night, my husband and I had just settled to watch the programme Most Haunted. Before it begun, our youngest needed tending to, so my husband left the room. As the programme begun, there were 2 flowers at the front of the bouquet that just shook violently, but no others moved. As the vase of flowers were by an open fire place i checked for any wind. There was no window open, no door open and no air being blown down the chimney. What made those two flowers move the way they did? I do not know. I have never heard of flowers shaking the way they did.

Based on what i would call evidence, i do feel my house was haunted or just spirits in visitation.

To the non believer, this would mean nothing to them. I wish there was a way to prove the afterlife. Maybe in time, proof will come.
