Mealtimes can be quite challenging with young, older and multiple kids in a household. After all who would like to prefer those healthy vegetables and meat over the bag of crispy potato chips and cookies? There may be only few kids who actually look forward to their mealtimes and practice disciplines while a vast majority is responsible for making mealtimes a horrific nightmare for some parents or at least something to not look forward to.
Since kids of all ages are curious with a constant lookout for new things, daily routine activities can bore them quite easily especially mealtimes. Despite of countless efforts made on the part of parents in this department, it is very common for kids to dread mealtimes particularly one loaded with healthy nutritious ingredients.
To begin with a successful mealtime it is very important for you to fully understand the likes and dislikes of your child towards certain type of foods. This task may be comparatively easier in older kids with their ability to convey their message but young kids can prove to be quite a job and a half. Young kids are very active in nature with a short attention span and they are most likely to be on the run preferably during their assigned mealtimes. During this time they may either outwardly reject what's offered to them or may like to be fed and entertained at the same time.
Firstly we have to comprehend this fact that each child is different from the other even if they are product of the same mother. I have learned this by taking a much harder route but lessons learned, and I am not repeating my mistakes again. Blessed with twins I had been constantly matching their food quantity and variety but this is not the case. Some kids like certain type of foods while others can't even bear to look at that type. Some like raw vegetable while others may prefer cooked in a certain way, then there are meat lovers and some like spicy while others don't, so try a wide variety of foods in different forms and don't worry about your kids fixated on certain types one day they'll instantly switch to the other type. So once you have tackled this obstacle you are on a road to success by alleviating one major stress factor.
Prepare a standard meal for family but add a couple of quick and easy back up meals for young ones. This will definitely increase your chances of feeding your child with one healthy meal.
