How to Find God

If you really want a relationship with God the Father, or the Lord God as I call him, then give up all you own, take to the highways and byways just like Jesus did and advised us to do. None of this fancy pilgrimage crap, not this soft-pedaled Christian, take a walk over to the next town and back or whatever it is they've got their kids doing now. Shut the door on your belongings and never look back, never return. Go from there. You will learn a lot. Make sure you have no money. Take a change of clothes so as not to offend those whom the Lord God puts in your path to assist you with the basics of life, like food, etc. You can, like me, haul a guitar around and a journal in which to note what you learn, plus a Bible or, better yet, a Tanakh and some warm coat perhaps. However much you want to carry is up to you. I made the mistake the first time out of loading a backpack with fifty to sixty some odd pounds of stuff I simply didn't need and eventually tossed away, a piece at a time. But, I wanted to know the same Father that Jesus had spoken of badly enough that I just kept going anyway. That's the challenge-how badly do you really want to know what Jesus knew? In other words, how earnestly do you desire a personal relationship with the Father? Bad enough to shut the door on all you own, all you think proves you exist, all of the material goods that you believe make you, you?

I'm not willing in this venue to discuss every aspect of all I learned in doing this five or six times (I'm not that quick a study, obviously), but I can tell you a few things here and now. Jesus is not God (and he would tell every one of you that himself, if he could get a word in edgewise), nor is Mohammed, nor is any other martyr with a message of truth perverted for selfish gain by those who came after them. God is God, the Lord God of the Living Universe, the God of Whom there is no Image. If your intent is true-and make no mistake about this, you will be tested and tested again, refined in the fires of adversity and hardship like the rare, precious metal you are-then you, too, can have a relationship with the Lord God whether you ever look within the pages of any religious tome or not. The Bible was not inspired of God, but assembled by men (the Nicene council about 400 AD or so) who picked and chose among the many manuscripts-scrolls-of the day only those writings that bolstered their desire to make Jesus a God and thus solidify their power, which translates to money
