Funny websites can be a dime a dozen. For every single hilarious site, there are at least fifty others that offer only a mild guffaw per click. Some people want videos and pictures, while others are content with text. Since humor can encompass all forms, here are some sites that are in the top of their respective categories.
WebComics: Simply put, there are a lot of comics on the web, some in syndication even. Many of these webcomics deal with gaming and geek culture, like ExtraLife (http://www.myextralife.com), Ctrl+Alt+Del (http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/), and Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com). Other webcomics deal with relationships, like Sinfest (http://www.sinfest.com) and Least I Could Do (http://leasticoulddo.com/). Animal lovers might enjoy VGCats (http://www.vgcats.com/) and university students can relate to the comic Piled Higher and Deeper (http://www.phdcomics.com/). There are many other webcomics out there for specific tastes and audiences, yet these suggested sites are a good place to start viewing.
Quote Databases: Once Internet Relay Chat (IRC) was invented, some rather stupid people have said rather odd things within the chatroom. In fact, many of these quotes have been persevered and collected into Quote Databases. Bash.org (http://bash.org/) and QDB.us (http://qdb.us) have the largest compilations of gaffs and mistakes in chatrooms, although general knowledge of IRC and geek culture may be necessary to get some of the "jokes". For quotes overheard in real life, Rinkworks has a generous dose of real life utterances along with other humorous complaints and notices (http://rinkworks.com/said/).
Pranks: Office pranks and cheeky shenanigans at school are pale in comparison to real. Improv Everywhere (http://www.improveverywhere.com) is a Manhattan based troupe that entertains the unsuspecting audience with random acts of kindness, silliness, and oddities. The MP3 Experiment and the annual No Pants Subway Ride were started thanks to this group. Their sister site Urban Prankster
Blogs: Certain blogs dedicate themselves to humorous accounts in real life. The Failblog (http://www.failblog.com) deals with pictures and videos of not-so-glamorous moments in history. Cakewrecks (http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/) shows pictures of culinary practice gone horribly wrong, although the site does show very well made cakes on the weekends for a change in pace.
