I lie awake tonight

like so many nights

as I watch you sleep in the moonlight

I gently caress your skin

and its like I've never been

anywhere else but right here with you

As you softly breathe

I whisper in your ear that I'll never leave

but will you ever know how my heart feels?

So I'll hold you tight

until the dawn breaks light

so close that we become as one

You are the air that I breathe

how could I ever leave

or imagine a moment without you

you calm my rage within

help me seek forgiveness for my sins

and I'm helpless without you

As the storms in life

pour out the raging strife

and try to take you away from me

we'll hold on tight who cares who is wrong or right

I live to love you with all that I am

It's been years gone by

as the torment at night

grips my mind again and again

I stay awake while you sleep

watching you while you dream

praying for peace to flood my soul within

Its so quiet outside of me

but this rage won't let me be

and I feel like I can barely breathe-

but with you right by my side

I know that I will be alright

when morning comes again my love
