College without a doubt is the greatest four years of your life, or how ever many years it may take for you to make it through. Sure, there are the tedious classes, the long papers, and the endless testing at finals time. However, when you think back to your college days, you will only remember those things as funny stories in the book of your life.
I remember having so much freedom, an amount that I hadn't had at any point in my life. With what I have to deal with now, I think that may be the most freedom I have ever had. Sure, I don't have classes or tests anymore, but all I seem to do these days is go to work, and maybe hang out with friends a night or two a week.
I also had to live with my parents during college, but it didn't seem like they minded what I did. I could have people over for the night, or go out until 2am, and nobody minded. If I did that now, I would probably feel guilty, which is why I finally decided to move out of my parents house, since I now know what it feels like to have someone wake you up at 3am when you have to work the next morning, and couldn't imagine doing that to my parents.
Classes seemed to be more fun too. There was a level of interactivity that I didn't feel in high school. Professors really taught the subjects as they were, or so it seemed at the time. While I now see that professors can be very political in their teachings, I had my eyes opened to new ideas at the time. It was a whole new world that I eagerly opened myself to. I no longer had the same thoughts and feelings toward the world as I did in the past.
I remember playing video games until all hours of the night as well. Fridays, Saturdays, and the occasional Monday nights were all some sort of fun times, whether it be grabbing a few beers, playing pool, or just hanging out on campus, something always seemed to be going on. Everyone was always up for something as well, which I can't always say in my life post college.
Simply, college was a blast! I long for the days when I could do what I wanted, when I wanted, and not feeling bound by anything. Sure I had a job, but it wasn't my life, I could take days off when I wanted, and not feel as if my career path was being compromised. Sure I play video games still, but not as much, and not without feeling that I am wasting time that I could use doing other stuff.
Don't let your college years pass you by, or you will regret it. Get out when you can, even if your not very social, because you don't get a second chance at it, and your life will never be the same after.
