First date turn offs and mistakes

Don't Pick Your Nose!

Alright thats not going to happen, I hope! However there are a lot of mistakes that people make during a date that they do not even realize are a turn off. Without explaining why nose picking is wrong I will move on to the top ten mistakes made on a date.

1. Know and remember their name! Forgetting a name is a mood buster. You might be able to get away with it as you first meet but after the first five minutes do not forget who you are out with. It demonstrates a lack of interest.

2. Cell Phones. Off. Completely turn them off. This is your date time. You are focused entirely on the person sitting across from you. No ringing, no beeping, no vibrations. Off.

3. If you must have your cell phone on, do not answer it or check email or messages at the table. If you must, excuse yourself and visit the washroom. Do not have an out call. You know what this is. A planned call that would be bad news that would force you to leave and thus escape from your date! We all know when that phone rings twenty minutes into a date what it is!

4. Do not check someone else out. It will be noticed. It doesn't matter how hot he or she is. Keep focused on your date.

5. Do not talk about your past. Talking about past relationships shows that you may be emotionally weak. Upbeat conversation is a key. Try to limit talking about yourself to a minimum. After a short answer always follow with a question.

6. You must remember your manners. This is a must for everyone not just guys. It shows maturity. This includes cursing. Pretend you are with your grandparents and this will keep your words respectful.

7. Eating. Do not talk with your mouth full. Try not to scrape the plate with your knife and fork. If you drop something on the ground, whatever you do, do not eat it!

8. Talk the truth. Lies are visible in words and actions. Read a few of the conversation starters here on Helium, here is a good one First date conversation starters.

9. Yawning. Big mistake. This will pretty much end any date in a very short manner of time.

10. Finally make sure to pay the bill if you are the male and be sure to offer if you are the female.

These are a few quick tips. If you can eliminate these from your dating routine, you will find you will have much more enjoyable dates! Remember the hard part about dating is finding someone you like that likes you. If they have agreed to the date, the hard part is already over.

We are what we believe!
