The 1990s were formative years for me as a late bloomer at ages 35-45 years old. I served in the Military and attened a University during the 1990s. There was welfare reform and then I became professional student. I became ill during my Senior year at College and went on Disability. I had enough work years put in so I was put on Social Security Disability in 1997.
My health didn't stand the test of time but my education would stay with me forever. You can't take away a persons education. My Military career helped me gain independence. I waited all the way until 2004 to sign up for VA Compensation too. But, that wasn't the 1990s.
The 1990s were fun for the most part. I attended part-time schooling at the University near where I lived in Bay County, Michigan. I was also a weekend warrior for the MIANG (Michigan Air National Guard) until 1992. In 1993 I joined the Saginaw Naval Reserves in Michigan for one year only. My health was worsening.
Disability insurance sustained me starting in 1996. I was no longer in the Service and quit College 1998 to 1999. It was a good thing that I worked and went to college when I did because when I got older school got harder. I only made it to a Senior but at least I am pretty much educated thus far.
The 1990s were eventful for me. It was eventful even if it became a bad setback for me towards the end of the decade. For the most part the 1990s were cherished.
I was gaining my independence that was important to me. I couldn't get married because I didn't make the time for it. I was too busy. But then after I was put on Disability I had the time but was in poorer health. So, I couldn't get married again in the 1990s.
From what echos from the 1990s to now is the music of that decade. There was really good music and it helped pull me along. There was really good dancing music of the 1990s. When I want to reflect back in time I still play some of the old stuff today. The 1990s music is on AOL Radio and Charter Communications Cable HDTV '90s station.
I know it is the same song and dance but I like the same song and dance of the 1990s. The 1990s were really great. I wouldn't be the same person without those formative years for me.
I'm getting older and close to retirement age now. So, there are others like me but they are retiring from the work force. I've been in Disability for 13 years now and I always revert back to the 1990s with my past education and Military experience. The 1990s formed me, shaped me, and molded me into the person I am today.
The 1990s were formative years for every one I know. None of us would be in existance without them. It was an important time in life. There was the Panama War and Gulf War when I was in the Service. It was a little unnerving too, but, sobering time. We can't take things for granted or it will be swooped from under us.
