The levels of mining will always be affected by the continued growth of the population and the fact that people are finding creative ways to increase life expectancy worldwide. The greater the consumer demands for products extracted form the earth, the more pressure prospectors will face to deliver them to the markets.
Mining has also contributed to the increase in employment and the Gross Domestic Product of several countries worldwide and when these factors are compared to countries that are not engaged in these kinds of exercises ,the differences are quite glaring.
The motivation to generate profits from mining is also a spirit that will also be difficult to inhibit in a climate where the economies of several countries are in decline.
Gold which is a metal that is unaffected by the changes in currency and exchange rates , is also a powerful driving force for several companies to continue to search for mining opportunities , as they know that this is a way of ensuring their future survival.
These benefits that mining brings to the population at large, the economy of the country, and the sustainability of companies, are the critical factors that the environmentalists are missing. The interrelationships between these factors and how they impact on the country overall are also not being weighed into by them, as they narrowly pursue their crusade against the mining industry.
Mining has brought great and continuing benefits to practically all sectors of the economy, and will be here to stay as long as there are people living on the earth and the deposits are still available below the surface.
