Does going to work fill you with happy anticipation or dread? If the latter applies to you then perhaps it is time to evaluate your life and maybe make some changes. It may be time to become more aware of the spiritual dimensions of life.

Any decisions should not be made in haste. Firstly, it may be wise to seriously consider whether you are in the right job. Does the change need to be radical or is there less drastic action that could be taken to improve the situation? Satisfaction in the workforce is an important factor. We spend many hours in the workplace and being unhappy there can be detrimental to our lives both in terms of health and satisfaction. We work to earn money but it is all too easy to become a slave to generating wealth. However, implications of change such as loss of earnings or status may make it almost impossible for us to contemplate.

Life is short and we have to make the best of the time we have. We should try to steer a course through life that brings us satisfaction. We need to eliminate as much negativity as we can. If we learn to explore our inner self and identify our priorities we may live a life of positive choices and avoid ending it full of regret. Some of us fight shy of our inner selves as it can be uncomfortable to explore who we are inside. Trauma or coping with suffering often forces us to face up to our inner feelings. It is sometimes found that those who have had more than their fair share of sadness or difficulties in life are the most intuitive and understanding of people if they have accepted the inevitability of their circumstances. If, however, they have blocked out the pain and externalised events then they may be embittered and even further away from understanding their psyche.

Skills in understanding our inner self are linked to spiritual development though many people are unaware of what spiritual development is. Most have never really stopped to think about it or are fearful of facing up to their own feelings and avoid reality at all costs. Spirituality lies in a willingness to be open to the spirit and recognition of one's own ability. It is about embracing human emotions and being aware of the metaphysical dimensions of life.

There are those circumstances in life which we can change and those we cannot. Wisdom lies in the acknowledgment of this and not wasting energy in trying to resist inevitable change. When making decisions, learning to follow one's heart and not being ruled by reason is likely to result
