Were the Nephilim the Sons of God? Or, were the Nephilim a race of giants? Or, were the Nephilim extra-terrestrial alien beings? The Bible mentions the Nephilim as giants and giants were the offspring of the fallen ones (Gn.6.4). The JPS Hebrew - English Tanak, among other translations, uses the word Nephilim instead of giants. The phrase "Sons of God" is always speaking of divine beings. Never is it used for human beings or mankind except when speaking of Jesus and Adam. Adam is a son of God because God created him as the first of mankind and he had a divine nature until he sinned and lost his divinity.

The rest of mankind was born of men, and we only have the ability to become sons of God, with the divine nature being given us by God. We are given that new garment when we are with God in the world to come. This is what our spirits long for. I say all of this for the sake of argument. Some people believe the Sons of God in Genesis 6:4 are actually human men from the line of Seth. Truth is Seth was the son of Adam. He is not mentioned as a son of God, only a man with a heart for God. There are men today with a heart for God, but this does not make them a son of God. The divine nature must be given to us first. We will all be changed within the twinkling of an eye.

Back to the Nephilim and who they really are. The fallen ones were the Sons of God. They were angels sent to watch over the earth and its inhabitants. However, jealousy set in. They saw the daughters of men and thought them to be beautiful and wanted to take wives for themselves. The half human, half divine beings they produced together were giants. They were the men of renown, hero's of old. That is to say they were men of stature and strength. Goliath was the hero of the Philistines and he is said to have been nine foot tall. However, nine foot was short compared to Og of Bashan who is said to have been 15 foot tall and it has been discovered from the skeletal remains of these giants that some of them were much taller.They existed before the flood and after that. We have great ancient cities to show us they were here as well, just take a look at Petra, or Heliopolis (Baalbek), and other megalithic stone structures. Some say it was the Nephilim that built the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

Before the flood in the days of Noah, the Nephilim had devoured everything, and they began to eat the raw flesh of men and drink their blood. This is an abomination to God, so God destroyed the evil in the world. However,
