Finding youthful gift ideas for the elderly person on your gift list really can be fun. Gifts that promote good health are excellent gift choices for making someone feel years younger.
A great gift idea for the elderly is a treadmill. A treadmill need not be too expensive either as their are numerous styles to choose from. This gift is great because the senior then has the opportunity to go for a walk even when poor weather forces them to stay indoors.
Elliptical machines are the latest break through in exercise equipment for those who are elderly or disabled. These machines allow for a weight bearing exercise program while minimizing stress on the joints, and thereby, preventing damage to inflamed joints. If the elderly person on your gift list is in good health with excellent knee joints than an exercise bike is another gift item to consider. Just remember though that bikes can be very hard on arthritic knees so if there is any doubt what so ever, go with either the treadmill, or the elliptical exerciser.
A pedometer is a small inexpensive gift item which counts the steps that a person takes throughout his or her day, and then equates it into miles walked. A pedometer is an excellent item to encourage the senior on your gift list to participate in a little extra walking throughout their day. For seniors who may be a little technologically challenged this little gadget is an amusing, and entertaining device that encourages them to get out, and get moving.
If your gift can provide an opportunity for entertainment, while at the same time still improving his or her health, then the added fun aspect of your gift makes it an experience that surpasses mere dollars and cents. Excellent gift choices in this area are passes to a local swimming pool or bowling lane, dance lessons, yoga lessons, or a pair of tickets to an upcoming dinner and dance event.
While we are on the discussion of entertainment for seniors, it is important to remember that elderly individuals still love to get out and enjoy life. Often though their small pension just does not allow a lot of extra income for the fun little extras in life as they already have to cover the costs of housing, medical, and other essentials like food, and transportation. So seriously consider a gift certificate or other gift of entertainment for the elderly person on your gift list.
If your gift makes your senior smile than you open the door for the senior on your gift list to feel like a kid again. Gift certificates
