Being raise a Jehovah's Witness - a blessing or a curse?
An excellent question to undertake. You were raised in a household where drugs hopefully as a standard were not acceptable. You were raised to respect your body and your God and that is not always easy accomplishments to aspire to into todays society. Your people by and large have proved to be one of Americas most hard working groups today, not to mention your devotion to honesty and keeping yourself for your Beloved Father in a pure state. You risked standing out like a sore thumb to professionals and a like today. I have met teachers who can say they remember this one Jehovah's Witness (here and there throughout their career) and man did they (young and old) have the weight of peer pressure against them, but their invisible bonds held them together step by step.'
There are upbringings that are a curse, but what I know of being raised up around your faith that there is safety in truth. When we were growing up the word Jehovah was hardly heard of - that isn't the case now. When we were growing up the fantasies that supported celebrating Christmas and the holidays were quickly starting to be debunked. You see millions of traditions released over the years and traced back to pagan ritual and not the Christianity of the Bible. That started with you people and I am not afraid to admit it. Down to our own thousands of years of tradition under the Council of Nicea. You must know that your history parallels the history of other times in other faiths that were monotheistic. You are unique and your people should, embrace your diversity and wear it with exhubance in all your heart. Your not far from Noah's moment where he shine like a radiant star because of the information our Father had presented him, but before that the people fear and mocked him for the words coming out of his mouth. Can you imagine how the gates closed to the Ark and how many people pounded wanting in as they realized the most heavenly father Yahweh was right again? How is children might have slightly feared because we are social 'animals' as human beings? They obeyed their father at all cost and most have been traumatized but still managed to follow his direction and see the beloved rainbow promise.
I think much like you anything worth having does not come easily.
Best wishes and may our God bless you on your journey with love and complete faith.
