In a world of cynicism and mediocrity, it seems far fetched to believe that our childhood dreams and ambitions could possibly lead to anything successful in our adult lives. One of the purest forms of human expression is that of a child at play. They are not at all concerned with the quality of what they're doing. They could care less if anyone is watching. They are simply doing what they love to do more than anything in this world. And it is within this simplicity where true, unpolluted bliss dwells. It is the one time in our lives when we are unequivocally connected to our Spiritual selves.
Each and every one of us enters this life with a Purpose. As children, we are tuned in to this Purpose and it reflects in everything we do, especially our play. As we grow older, our childhood ambitions are tagged as "cute but not practical", packed away and pushed into a dark corner of the attic. Life begins to happen and we lose sight of our True Nature, allowing it to become buried under layers of fear, social expectations and self-doubt.
With our nation's failing economy and recent job losses, more and more people are finding themselves at a major crossroads in their lives. A crossroad that requires them to completely restructure their lives. All too often we wait until we're faced with a major life-changing event to begin taking stock of our Spiritual lives. We have been convinced that we are helpless, allowing ourselves to be controlled by the very things that are holding us back.
Sadly, we live in a society where success is measured by an inflated paycheck and stellar health benefits. We are conditioned from a young age to pursue only those professions that will provide for us financially. Anything outside of those parameters is viewed as childish and wasteful. Parents hear their children dreaming of one day becoming a movie star or an astronaut and their immediate response is one of discouragement.
Spirituality isn't a magical cure for your professional woes; however, it CAN give you the clarity and awareness that is needed to point you in the right direction. We never lose our connection to the Divine. We simply lose sight of it. When this sight is lost, our lives fall into disarray, often marked by loss, disappointment and heartbreak. We begin to question the validity of a God. We struggle to find the meaning of our very existence. In essence, we are going against
