Marital discord occurs to varying degrees along the precarious road of any marriage. More so today than in past years, married couples are finding it more and more difficult to engage positively with the issues that any kind of family, anywhere in the world, inevitably face. Whether it's financial difficulty or time management, sexual issues or career moves, or a variety of other problems, many couples are finding it much easier to end their commitments to each other rather than working towards finding the real reasons behind their marriage troubles. They are unable to tackle issues without becoming emotionally entangled and this mutual inability to discover the root cause of marital disruption can lead to divorce.

Many couples resort to the sofa of a marriage counselor when they are unable to find the words or the patience to communicate with their spouse.
