The very word "Destiny" has an air of both mystery and finality about it, as if it were this illusive thing that we must find. This mythical final goal.
Our language reflects this: we talk of our destiny as though there were only one outcome of our life, as if it were something we have to discover. We talk of finding our "Soul-mate" the one who is our ultimate "Destiny" And we refer to someone who has persued their dreams one who has "Followed their destiny" as if destiny were a thing in need of persuing.
Destiny is the root word of destination The simple fact is the moment we are in motion we have a Destiny and a destination.
If we are in any way conscious while we are moving we can decide where we will end up. We can intend the outcome.
If we are not in any way conscious while we are moving, we could well be heading full steam backwards for the nearest tree as we're backing out of the driveway!
The wheel has always been in our hand. We are always in the drivers seat in our own life. If we want to change our destiny we need only wake up and avoid the tree. But, then if we are aware enough to want to change our destiny then the evidence is that we are awake enough for a coarse correction.
To continue with the driving metaphor, I would suggest that changing our destiny is a simple as changing direction as you are driving down the road in your car. Which is not easy at all if you have never done it before.
Obviously you'd have to learn how to drive before you could even consider going about a coarse correction in an intelligent manor.
Life is like this. We are all born, and the moment we are, we are headed in a direction.
Some of us may come into this life well placed and seem to be headed toward a rosy future without any real need for adjustment. And, then there are others who seem to come into this life destined for disaster right off the hop! And yet, we can start off headed the right way and manage to annihilate all hope for ourselves.Or we can have a star-crossed beginning in life an somehow manage to create abetter life for ourselves. So clearly our lot in life is not writ in stone.
In life our imagination is the steering wheel. It is through the intelligent use of our imagination that a coarse correction is even possible.
If we have enough insight to know we want a better destiny than the one we are headed for then we are already well on our way to shifting the thing we need to shift to effect the changes we want to see happen.
Can you imagine the life you want? The
