Psychic ability is available to anyone willing to work towards improving upon it. Some have a natural interest and aptitude at picking up on psychic awareness. This article is aimed at the beginner, though the professional may find a few of the tricks useful as well.

1. Use your gift as much as possible. As with any talent or gift within a human, when unused it becomes rusty. A runner that does not run often will find themselves slower over time. A musician does not let his insturment sit in a corner hidden and ignored. He plays it daily to improve upon his music. The same holds true with our mind and those gifts. We must find ways to use them as often as we can so that they do not diminish from being unused or untrained.

2. Exercise your mind daily. Find a simple mind exercise that you can use to improve your gifts. For example: In the morning as you drink your first cup of tea or coffee, close your eyes and envision your day. In the evening, see if you were correct about the events that happened. Or perhaps, try and find a number that seems to suit your intution as lucky. Use it on a few things or watch the lottery results and see if your number appeared. See how often it is chosen and if it does in fact seem to represent a little more luck in your life. You can also use mind exercises to recall your dreams. Once you can recall the details in a vivid dream, write them down. Dreams are discussed later in this article. Find little ways to sharpen your skills by practicing. You don't have to be accurate about everything but over time, with exercises you will naturally improve your skills and notice a difference. Exercise and training the gift will make it much more reliable and useful.

3. Take your psychic gifts seriously. Some things are naturally funny but if you try to exercise your mind with the attitude it's a big joke that will never work, then you aren't entering into it with an open enough attitude to gain success. It doesn't have to be courtroom serious all the time, however, the attitude should be of one willing to advance a true gift not just a practical joke. You must have some level of serious belief in the processes for it to work properly.

4. Read and make use of the materials you encounter reading. There is no shame in reading about tarot or runes before trying them. Learn everything you can about various mediums.
