is declinging despite medical intervention.
4. Medical intervention is interferring with his quality of life. Some treatments can tire a dog out or cause more pain. If this medical situation is permanent you need to question why you're keeping your dog alive if it's only to keep medicating him.
5. Refuses to eat. This one is the deal breaker for most veterinarians. If your dog has reached the point where they will no longer eat, even if fed by hand, then it is a very good indicator that his time may have come. If they refuse to eat or drink it could be a matter of days before they dehydrate themselves and end up in even more pain. You may want to do your dog a favor and help him into the next world.
Lots of faithful dogs carry on for as long as they do for the love and sake of their owners. They don't want to say goodbye any more than you do. It's up to you to make that choice for them and help them into the next life. Euthanasia gives them the ability to die with their dignity and take their last look at the love of their life - you. Even if you don't stay with them while they are put to sleep you should feel confident that you've done all you can to make them comfortable in this life and are now releasing them of their pain forever. Euthanasia is the last gift you will give your dog for a lifetime of loyal friendship and constant companionship. Don't let them down!
