Finding spiritual peace in a tough economy

I used to wonder why it was that so many of us only turn to the spiritual side of our lives in times of crisis or catastrophe. Was it because we were taught that the "power" connected with this side of our lives lies outside of us and, like our training concerning other authority figures, we should only bother that power in extreme cases? We were trained to fear God, by whatever name you choose, as we are taught to fear parents, teachers and other authority figures.

The truth is that if you live in fear, you cannot find spiritual peace. They are two entirely opposing vibrations. Yet, even as we became adults, even as we became the parents, the teachers and more, the fear continues in us. What can it be that we really fear?

In 1994, in his inaugural address, Nelson Mandala said, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us."

Think about it. If we are created in the image of the Creator and if Jesus was right when he told us that the acts that he did we may do also, even the least of us, then Nelson Mandala has hit the nail on the head. Somewhere in our being, we know we have the power to create whatever we need in our lives.

In 2004, I was led to a book entitled Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn. In the book the author talks about the Law of Attraction. This Universal Law is about the fact that like attracts like. Therefore this law is based on the premise that the Universe/God responds to us through our vibrations. Those vibrations aren't based on what we think but rather on what we feel. If, in certain areas of our lives, fear predominates then what we fear is what we get because that's what we're vibrating emotionally.

The other interesting thing about the Law of Attraction is that it isn't dependent on a good economy or world peace. For each of us, it only depends on what we are feeling and what we are focusing on. So, that means we need to spend time visualizing what we want in our lives rather than what we fear or don't want and then feel what that would be like to have it appear in our lives.

You may ask at this juncture, "But how do I make it happen?". Well, here's another cool thing about the Law of Attraction. It's not up to us to figure out how to make it happen. Our willingness to visualize, to meditate on what it is that we want or need and add the necessary feelings that accompany that happening will magnetize people and events
