The word psychic comes from psyche in Greek, meaning "soul" thus psychic means "of the soul", parting from this point of view, we are all souls having a body experience and we are all endowed with psychic gifts or abilities since they are gifts of the soul. What we decide to do with these gifts is up to us, some of us decide to block them others decide to develop them because they have realized that it is an expression of their soul and also a great guide in our daily lives.
Many of us has had some kind of psychic experience in this sense, sometimes we "sense" what others think or feel, sometimes we "hear " someone calling us only to discover that this person was actually thinking of us at that moment. Psychic contact is indeed a part of our daily lives even without knowing about it.
There are, however many types of psychic abilities or skills such as:
Animal Telepathy - The ability to communicate with animals
Astral Projection - The ability to leave one's body and travel in spirit to another location.
Aura Reading - The ability to "see" the energy field that emanates from living beings.
Automatic Writing - Writing through the subconscious mind without conscious thought, or through the guidance of a higher intelligence.
Channeling - The ability to act as a channel or vessel for a higher being.
Clairaudience - The ability that allows you to "hear" the "inaudible", such as thoughts or conversations miles away.
Clairvoyance - The ability to "see" that which is hidden or far away.
Clairsentience -An insight or "knowing" of a fact or event.
Divination - A broad term used in predicting the future with different methods .
Dowsing - The ability to locate locate water or lost objects.
Empathy - The talent to sense the needs, drives, and emotions of another person.
E.S.P. - Extra Sensory Perception is the awareness of information about events external to the psychic that are not gained through the senses and not deducible from previous experience. Often used to describe clairvoyance, precognition, telepathy, etc...
Intuition - Similar to clairsentience, this is the power or faculty of attaining direct knowledge or cognition without rational thought or inference.
Levitation - The ability to cause one's body or objects to hover off the ground.
Mind Over Body - Suppressing or mentally satisfying the basic biological needs like water or food.
Precognition The ability to "know the future
