Moving forward in life

by Nikki Stoneroad

Created on: January 18, 2009

Sometimes you have to take two small steps backward in order to take one giant step forward. We tend to try to jump ahead quickly and easily miss the steps we need to take in order to get there. We are all looking for instant gratification, but life happens at exactly the right time that it is meant to happen. Do not become discouraged. Every small effort you take will be rewarded. The when and how is still unknown. You are evolving with a process that will create the rest of your life.

"Infinite patience will provide immediate results" as quoted by Wayne Dyer. Understanding that life is a journey will provide you with an instant calm. Be patient for the things you long for the most. Your patience will be well worth the trouble. Live in the present making small strides each and every day toward your future.

Learn well from your past. We are given plenty of time to make mistakes but little time to make the changes we need to make. Don't waste time repeating the past. Create a plan. Know what you want. Devote part of each and every day to make those changes.

Voice your goals. Let everyone around you know what you wish for the most. You will be surprised to find out how much knowledge others actually possess. Others' resources will be your greatest rewards. Rely on others for support. Whatever support you may need. You may just need someone to listen. Let your voice be heard!

Life has guided me in many directions. Most of the time it seems I was just in the right place at the right time. But these were things that I may have been striving for for years. One day it will all just come together so quickly your head may spin.

Own up to your mistakes. And don't repeat them. It is not important what others think of you and your life. Prove to yourself that you are better than this. Know that there are no limitations. I repeat, there are no limitations.

Do not lose sight of your future. Envision every detail. Map out your progress. What will it look like, what will it feel like, what will it taste like, or even smell like? Refuse to settle for less than what you crave. This is your one shot at life. It should make you feel euphoric. You should spend most of your days with a feeling of satisfaction and as little as possible with regret. You and you only own the rest of your life. You need to make the decision that today is going to be the first day of the rest of your life. Live it to the fullest.
