There is not a career on this planet that can not be done better with a great memory. Most of us don't realize how many little details are stored and used every day in our memory. Let's just take a look at the basics to understand how important a memory is at our job and how much we use it.

Think about going into work and setting up the work area everyday. If one works in an office they may sign into a computer, pull up the programs and log in every morning. This skill set requires remembering sequencing details and passwords. What if every day an associate had to get out the instruction book to log on to the computer? How long would they remain employed? This small example shows clearly that memory is used is the simplest of tasks.

If an associate is receiving instruction how many times should a supervisor have to repeat the information? Is the memory good enough and does the employee possesses skills to take on information and get it right the first time? One could certainly see how this would be a benefit in any career. A good memory is a great asset.

What if we could remember the name and information of at least 90% of the people that we were introduced to? Would our networking skills help up with a promotion or perhaps make a connection for a new job? Imagine how impressed one might be if someone had met them one time and weeks later greeted them by name? Would they be even more impressed if they were asked how their spouse was doing, by name? It's not a skill that everyone possesses and it sets people apart.

The good news about memory is that we can always learn new techniques to help us recall information that is stored in our brains. Unless there is a physical problem it's all in there. It is just about finding the key that will unlock the power of memory for each individual. For some people, it's visual and they remember like pictures, others tend to hear words. The more of our senses we can get involved the better memory we will have.

There are puzzles, games and activities for all ages to help learn to retrieve more information accurately. Take advantage of every opportunity to participate. Even simple things like the vocabulary word of the day helps to improve the memory.

Earn a promotion with a new and improved memory. Use it to keep organized, meet deadlines, find the car keys and get to meetings prepared and on time. Step right out of that comfort zone and take some free memory challenges on line. The help is there just waiting for us to tap into it.
