Finding spiritual peace in a tough economy is a hard thing for a person of any faith or spiritual background. Every television news program spouts countless stories of a recession and stock market down turns on a regular basis. Newspaper headlines read almost daily about how the government is bailing out banks and corporations that are on a downward spiral towards bankruptcy.
How does one find spiritual peace in this tough economy when unemployment is rising, companies are downsizing, prices are inflated and credit based lending is reduced to almost zero? I've personally found myself in tough situations recently and have mastered spiritual peace through constant meditation. One way a person can maintain spiritual balance is through setting aside regular times throughout the day to find a quiet place to meditate or pray depending on your beliefs. By making a schedule of these times to be spiritual it can help you stay grounded and reduce stress created by work, family, and the constant barrage of media hype over this plunging economy.
Most people find themselves in debit during a recession and the phone won't stop ringing with calls from creditors demanding payment. Bills begin to pile up, and stress levels rise throwing anyone out of spiritual balance. My advice is to set aside a few hours a day or even weekly to organize your debits, figure a small budget and use those hours to call back your creditors and throw yourself at their mercy. Tell them the situation, offer them a small payment if you can and see if they will take it. If they do great, if not then go back to the drawing board of planning and budgeting until you can find a compromise with a creditor. Always begin and end these sessions with meditation and prayer to help enhance your own form of psychic ability if you will. This will give you a spiritual balance to help determine right from wrong and hopefully resolve conflicts peacefully.
Look to the past as well to find spiritual peace, ask your elders or grand parents how they survived the "Great Depression" in the early 1920's. They are full of useful advice on saving money, sticking to your guns to find employment and ways to feed a family on little or no income.
Don't be afraid to seek council from a spiritual leader in your community for advice, prayer, and meditation. As the Proverb states "Make no decisions without first seeking the council of many" this reminds us to ask others before we make decisions in haste. Feel free to share your problems
